Made in the Future

Made in the Future captures IDEO's musings about what a not-so-distant tomorrow might look like. Our tools—faster, cheaper, and more out of control than ever—have triggered seismic shifts in how we design, manufacture, and distribute.

We are a curious bunch, so we sat down with some smart friends to learn where things are headed. We learned a lot about the edges of technology from folks at the MIT Media Lab. Through these conversations, we started to glimpse some exciting developments that we grouped into five themes: the Meaning Economy, Outer Skills, Making Exchanges, Raw Systems, and New Matter.
